Miscellaneous

Contrary to how things may seem, I have not fallen off the face of the planet, nor have I forgotten about this attempt of a website.  I just don’t really have anything to post and it’s been a startling busy summer (although not very productive).  So I’d like to say a little about what I’m up to and what will hopefully be coming soon, because if I say I’m going to do something I might actually get around to doing it…

Hopefully in the near future I’ll post on my philosophical framework, but right now I’m still in the process of constructing it.  I’m leaning towards an empiricist view or Kantian mixture of empiricism and rationalism, but beyond that I’m not too sure of the fundamental nature of the universe (besides, of course, what is in the Bible, which is all I REALLY need to know).  I’ve rejected a purely rationalist view but I’m hesitant to abandon it completely, because the human psychology at least seems to have innate desires, and I’m not sure how to reconcile an empiricist framework with innate desires without resorting to some type of innate ideas.  Kant’s view may have potential  to resolve this, but I really can’t understand him.  Anyway, figuring out the basic nature of reality has been taking up a lot of my time, but I’ve also been working on organizing my political views into a self-consistent system, which hopefully I’ll also be able to post in the near future.  However, a lot of my political views are closely related to my ethical views, and hence that will probably have to wait until I’ve created a framework for those.  Of course, those views come directly from the Bible, but in order to be fashioned into a political framework they need to also have secular reasoning, and in short I’ve been putting in a lot of work but I’m still nowhere near done completing a fully secular rational support of either my ethics or politics.  (Now I have rational religious reasoning to support them, which I may eventually post, but that’s another topic.)  As soon as I have time (or am bored enough) I’m still planning on posting about consolidation regarding Laurel Valley and Ligonier, but at the moment that’s not really a pressing issue, and of course there’s always politics that I’d like to post on more often.  I’ve also updated my links section and am toying with the idea of creating a “library” of recommended reading, but that’s not likely to happen any time soon.

So in conclusion, there’s really no substance to this post beyond to say that in the near future I’d like to post some sort of philosophical framework that I’m fairly certain of (once I decide on it) and a framework for my political views.

I’d also like to express my deepest sympathies to those affected by the tragedy in Great Britain.  May God be a source of strength for you in these difficult times and may you find comfort, security, and peace in Him!
